Listen describes itself as an independent press and living archive centring the stories, creative practices and lived experiences of global majority women. It publishes independent writers, preserves stories, curates intimate cultural experiences, develops creative writing through structured programmes and connects creatives of colour through an alumni community, on the stated belief that 'archiving is a revolutionary act'. Its first print issue, 'ARC 1: On Motherhood', gathers long-form essays, 'In Conversation With' interviews and poetry from writers across the global majority, on fertility, ageing, grief, disability, queerness, inheritance, community care, single motherhood and mental health. The journal was founded by Jodie, a three-time British Olympian, who writes that she wants it to be a place for nuanced discussion without shame attached.
