Hometown Journal describes itself as an independent art magazine and film series founded in 2020, blending tactile print design with cinematic storytelling to create collectable cultural artefacts and to document their creation. It states its mission as connecting artists and audiences through authentic narratives and fostering a global community. Its print issues are called episodes: the fourth, 'The Way Home', runs to over 300 pages in an edition limited to 800 numbered copies and carries the work of dozens of artists. Alongside the magazine it runs an ongoing film series, Days in the Studio, described as 'learning about our world from artists around the globe', and a store of artist books, prints and original works bought directly from the artists.
